Drew Barrymore has apologised after she made a series of jokes about Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard.

The duo are currently locked into a major court case, which threatens to damage the reputation of either side. As part of that process, Johnny is suing Amber for $50 million, while Amber has counter-sued for $100 million on the grounds that the actor had allegedly organised a smear campaign against her.
And with the trial throwing up sensitive issues, such as allegations of domestic violence on either side, Drew’s prior comments have now been called into question. In an episode of her show ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ the talk show host did mock some of the statements that had been made in the trial.
She said: “It’s, like, one layer of crazy — it’s a seven-layer dip of insanity.” But with time, Drew has recognised that her comments were out of order. Her enthusiasm ultimately ended up getting the better of her, as she did expand on how was keeping a close eye on the trial.
So much so that she did catch up on anything that she had missed. With that being said, it is fair to say that the trial has become somewhat of a soap opera which has been aided by the fact that it has been available to live stream. Nevertheless, Drew did hold her hands up and apologise.
In a post to her fans on Instagram, Drew shared a video of herself outlining how she could have handled things differently. She stated: “It has come to my attention that I have offended people with making light of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and for that, I just want to deeply apologize.
“I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward.” Drew has certainly learnt her lesson, and perhaps she should avoid commenting about other people’s private lives in that manner.
