ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal the visitation hearing has been taking up quite a bit of time lately. And we’re sure there are lots of dissenting opinions on how it should turn out, based on what we’ve seen online. Let’s talk about our position and why we think this is the way to go.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Corinthos vs Reeves
First, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal this whole thing is about whether or not Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) should have any access to her grandson. Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) are firmly against letting Nina have anything to do with their son. It didn’t have to go this way.
See, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) made it clear he wasn’t some victim and he believes it’s best if people work together. Others have also pointed this out, to no avail. And we think this whole thing could have been solved very easily. If Willow really wanted to compromise, she wouldn’t have suggested Nina signing away all rights to her grandson for the hope that Michael will calm down in time and let Nina see the child.
Instead, she would’ve suggested that Nina be allowed limited, supervised visits until they feel comfortable letting Nina see their son alone. This would have ensured no court battle and it would be on their terms. And there would be an understanding that if Nina did/said something she shouldn’t, that would be the end of things. But again… no one wants to compromise here. And that’s a problem.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Hypocrites
So, why do we think Nina should win? Well, first off, we think Michael and the rest have been hypocritical as can be with this. They’re not beating themselves up over allowing Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) to be around the child—a woman who’s been far more unstable and problematic than Nina in recent years. And one could argue worse than her overall.
Plus, we can’t understand why it’s okay for Willow to be upset over Harmony, but it’s not okay for Nina to mourn a daughter she never got to know. Or that it’s unreasonable and crazy to think that, had Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) been raised in other circumstances, she might have turned out different.
It’s entirely possible. And the fact they don’t believe their own son is doomed to be as crazy and horrible as Nelle (or they accuse Nina of being) is proof they do actually believe she’s correct, despite what they say.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Bad influences?
Finally, ‘General Hospital’ spoilers indicate it’s possible Michael, Willow, and the rest could be just as bad an influence on the child as Nina. Look at how Michael is treating Sonny? Instead of recognizing there was something wrong when Sonny was off his meds, Michael and the rest essentially turned a blind eye to the struggle.
Nor do they show any compassion or understanding of the complexity of Sonny’s situation. He was literally a whole other person for almost a year. He developed feelings for Nina as that other person. One just doesn’t snap their fingers and get over it.
Instead of working through this in counseling or something, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and the rest passed judgement on Sonny’s actions and eventually turned their backs on him. That behavior was not going to help make him turn away from someone that was showing compassion and genuine concern. Now, Michael’s ready to go so far as to wipe his father out of the public memory. To take him down.
We believe Sonny might have, on some level, known what their true colors were. It always struck us as odd that “Mike” (Benard) would just assume he had no family and no one looking for him. Especially since he definitely had that watch with him, and possibly his ring as well—we can’t remember for sure if he had that. In any case, he had no clue he was a high profile figure that should have been all over the news.
As far as he knew, he was some average guy who might not even live in the area. So, how could he be sure there was no one looking for him? We think his instincts told him exactly what they are and he might have even been craving peace from the chaotic life he chose. And that says a lot, in our opinion, about this whole situation.
