‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers find that star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood has called the departure of her on-screen husband, Dr, John “Finn” Finnegan (off-screen friend, Tanner Novlan) “bittersweet”.
“On one hand, the drama of it all is fantastic!” Wood told Soap Opera Digest. But, as she continued, on the other hand, Finn’s departure means “that a colleague, an amazing screen partner and friend would be leaving.”
According to Novlan, his co-star was as shocked as viewers when she first heard about the storyline that would see Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) accidentally shoot her own son (Finn) instead of Steffy.
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester) Finds Losing Her On-Screen Love “Bittersweet”
“She was surprised because we have so many Sinn (Steffy-Finn) fans,” Novlan explained when discussing his departure from the soap after (just shy of) 2 years. “She was speechless, and I said, ‘Well, I think that’s the point of it.’”
A sentiment common with viewers, Wood has explained how happy she was to take a break from the Steffy/Liam/Hope love triangle, but that wasn’t the only reason she was sad to see her alter-ego, Steffy become widowed.
“Tanner is the absolute best. He’s an all-around great guy, and we have so much in common,” Wood told SOD. “As a screen partner, he gave everything he had. It was a delight to work with him, and I hope we get to work together again in the future.”
If Bold fans have their way, Finn could come back sooner than (head writer and executive producer) Bradley Bell planned…which seems to be never.
Though Finn’s death saw The Bold catapult in the ratings (in fact, the show has been seeing great results since the return of Sheila), fans were seemingly even more disappointed with Novlan’s departure than the actor himself.
“I was pretty surprised,” Novlan said of his firing.” But that’s the nature of soap opera. Anything can happen at any time, and that’s ultimately what keeps people engaged with the show.”
He continued, “It was such an honor to be so well-received from the fans and critics. Then for everyone getting behind Finn and saying Finn was the breath of fresh air for the Hope/Liam/Steffy triangle, to be able to provide that for the fans and the show alike was a real honor.”
Hey, Taylor is back after being shot and killed by Sheila, so Finn may make an appearance again! Like Wood and Novlan though, fans are hoping the Steam-Lope love triangle does not. Please listen to us Bell!
