Vitali Klitschko has no time for anyone’s B.S. The mayor of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv seemingly responded to Vladimir Putin’s claims that Russian military forces are not targeting civilians in their war against Ukraine. And the way he did it is certainly raising some eyebrows. Here’s what you need to know.
Klitschko, a former world heavyweight boxing champion was with 7 News Sydney reporter Chris Reason when he asked him what he thought of Putin’s claim of “only targeting military targets.”
Vitali Klitschko Snaps At Vladimir Putin’s Claim That Russians Are Not Targeting Civilians In Ukraine
“Bullshit,” the mayor snapped. “Sorry,” Klitschko immediately added, before pointing at the bombarded apartment building and asking: “Where is military target? This building is military target?”
Of course, many people on Twitter commented on Klitschko’s response with, “It is very refreshing to see them with no filter, no lens, no optics, no backhandedness. We can and should learn a lot from them,” along with, “Vitali is a legend. He could be anywhere in the world, but he’s fighting for his country. LEGEND.”
Another person said, “I find the Ukrainians so inspirational. Not just their bravery & tenacity, but their absolute inability to put up with bullshit. We are so used to seeing canned/rehearsed statements and these people just tell it like it is. It’s like blowing a hole through propaganda.”
However, Russia has denied they are deliberately targeting civilians and insisted in some cases that enemy fighters were hiding within the buildings. In addition, Russia is also reported to have used unguided “dumb” bombs in Ukraine, which greatly increase the risk of missing targets and hitting civilian infrastructure.
