Sex and the City Reboot ‘And Just Like That’ Returns To HBO For Season 2!

It was up in the air for awhile, but the powers that be at HBO have decided that viewership numbers dictated that the Sex and the City Reboot, “And Just Like That” get a season 2.

Now, we’re kind of wondering what sort of numbers those actually translated to considering just how much hate that Che Diaz (Sarah Ramirez’) character generated now that they are with Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) but that pairing may not be first and foremost this season considering how Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) left us last season by planting a rather hot kiss on her producer after a series of bad dates with this one widower guy that she was trying to date.

And Just Like That gets a season 2!

“And Just Like That, our sex life is back!” says series creator, Michael Patrick King. Okay, well that was definitely one thing that did seem to be missing from the reboot of Sex and the City, there weren’t a lot of instances of actual sex in the reboot and the scenes we did get were decidedly uncomfortable.

Like, the whole out of left field hookup with Miranda and Che, actually any sex scenes involving Miranda in season 1 seemed kind of off and out of place. With Carrie, it was understandable because she had just lost the love of her life, Big AKA John James Preston (Chris Noth) to a heart attack and therefore she was not feeling up to getting back on the whole dating horse.

That left Charlotte, but Charlotte has always sort of been the moral center of the group, and while she definitely does have sex, her scenes have never actually always been the most exciting. She’s the most conventional and the most, well, Karen-like, which isn’t a great archetype to be these days.

(Even though arguably all of the characters of the reboot have embodied Karenesque traits at one time or another during season 1 and it wasn’t a great look.) No one was ever tuning in to see Charlotte’s sex scenes, we tuned in to see Charlotte get fluatered over the tales of other people’s sex scenes, and that’s the tea.

In season 2, we kind of don’t know what to expect. Miranda has moved to LA to be with Che Diaz in a really romcom-esque move that is totally unlike Miranda, and Carrie seems to have thrown caution to the wind in order to be with this producer dude that she has known for exactly 15 minutes but in the world of Sex and the City that’s long enough.

The one that we’re still reeling from the absence of is Samantha Jones (Kim Cattral) but she is not coming back and has made it clear that she has moved on from playing the character, even though Samantha did show up exactly twice over text message which we guess is better than nothing.

Still, we do wonder what season 2 is going to look like. So far no premiere date yet, we just got the greenlight for filming, we’ll keep you updated. Stay tuned!!!
