After taking what could have been a nasty tumble at the SAG-Aftra awards, Selena decided to address what happened over on instagram. She said, “Last night was such a magical one.
I couldn’t keep my heels on but I did manage to take a couple of selfies” indeed, she did have pics of her in her fabulous Oscar de la Renta black evening gown. One fan commented, “Selena Gomez presenting barefoot at the SAG Awards is a definite proof in the vibe shift.” Is that a good thing, gen Z or did Selena just usher in the rapture? One wonders, due to the state of the world.

Another fan commented that Selena presenting barefoot at the SAG Awards was “the most Selena Gomez thing Selena Gomez could do”. I mean, we’re here for it, we’re just slightly confused by it is all. For those not familiar, Selena was rumored to have broken a heel on the red carpet at the SAG Awards and fell to her knees, fortunately two other people were there and could help her up, and the fall didn’t seem to injure her or get in the way of her actually having fun during the rest of the event which is always a good thing.
Fans are really here for it though, so, is this going to be the new trend going forward? Are people going to start rocking the red carpet barefoot? In some cases this might be a fun twist on casual dress, but considering how formal these things can get, we don’t really see it becoming a trend anytime soon.
That being said, we’ve been wrong before and stranger things have happened (And Stranger Things has happened… I’ve been sitting on that one for a long time, forgive me.), but it looks like this is one trend that may be a Selena Gomez-centric thing.
It’s one thing if Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift or Lizzo wants to rock the red carpet barefoot, but some people just were not meant to rock the barefoot look, use your imagination, we’re not going to call anyone out. Stay tuned!!!
