Say it isn’t so! It is definitely an end of an era. There are new reports that say Maurcy Povich’s daytime talk show, “Maury” will be ending after 30 seasons. The talk show, which is famous for airing results of paternity tests, will cease production later on this year. Here’s what you need to know.

“Maury,” the long-running daytime talk show that turned paternity tests into entertainment, is coming to an end. However, new episodes will continue to be broadcast through September, at which point reruns will air in syndication. “Maury” will complete its run of original episodes in September following 31 total seasons in broadcast television. Its final season marks the 24th with its current parent company.

    “Maury” Ends After Three Decades

In a statement, Maury Povich traced the end of his long-running show further back.

“Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my the NBC Universal family asked me to continue the show,” he said. “Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal. I’m so proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and all those who worked on the Maury show but as I occasionally tell my guests on Maury, ‘Enough, already!’”

As many fans probably already know, “The Maury Povich Show” was launched in 1991 by Paramount Domestic Television. It shortened its name to Maury in the mid-1990s. In 1998, Studio USA took over the program. The company was subsequently acquired by NBC Universal.
