It is no secret that the actor has had a long list of failed relationships with women, most of whom have been younger than the actor. Although that may be the case, the very fact of the matter is that Leo’s latest relationship seems to be doing pretty well.
He has been dating his current girlfriend, Camila Morrone, since 2017. But much like his previous girlfriends, there is a significant age gap between them. In fact, the age gap is 23 years. And this is something that Amy used when she made a joke to highlight Leo’s dating life.
In her comments at the ceremony, she said: “I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio—what can I even say about him? He’s done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet for his girlfriends. Because he’s older, and they’re younger. You get it.”
Although that did get the laughter of the people in the audience, the couple did not attend the ceremony. And yet, given by Camila’s prior comments about their relationship, it is clear that she has not been fazed by what others have had to say about her.
Leo has been known for dating younger women, and this is something that she is totally fine with. In a prior interview with the LA Times, she remarked: “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood — and in the history of the world — where people have large age gaps.
“I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.” The response on social media was not too kind towards Amy’s joke. People were of the view that the joke was too corny, while others felt that she was trying too hard to provoke some laughter.
One person wrote: “I was always told if you have to explain your joke it’s not that funny.” As long as Leo is happy in his personal life, then that is the most important thing. But for Amy, perhaps she has to rethink her comedy material if she wants to win over the fan base.
