Belle and Sebastian have promised to give the proceeds from their latest single ‘If They’re Shooting at You,’ to the Red Cross to aid the people of Ukraine.Â
Belle And Sebastian Promise To Donate The Proceeds From Their New Single To The People Of Ukraine-‘We Stand In Solidarity’
The group’s single is part of their new album ‘A Bit of Previous,’ in which their music contains images of the conflict that has devastated Ukraine. At a time where people are suffering, the group felt that it was only right that they should use their influence in a positive way.Â
In a post to their fans on Twitter, they shared a series of images from their music video. The post was captioned by the following comments: “We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and hope that their pain and suffering can be brought to a halt as soon as possible.
“In creating this, we aspire to show a hopeful, defiant side, as well as bringing an awareness to the plight of the people there.” This move is part of a wide campaign that has emerged to raise funds for the people of Ukraine.
A similar thing has happened in the acting profession where several high-profile stars have either started fundraisers or donated, as well as others doing both. Such names have included Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Hayden Panettiere to name a few.
And by people coming together, that is the only way for this conflict to come to an end. The group added: “We think any way in which we can get behind Ukraine — politically, culturally, practically, spiritually — it must all add up in the end.
“Together we have to do what it takes to help Ukraine beat this tyranny.” The group was praised on social media. This was not just for the efforts that they were making with regards to Ukraine, but the actual song went down very well with a huge number of fans.
One person wrote: “Both of your new songs reduce me to tears every time I listen to them. Therapy for pandemic and war. Such brilliance!” Hopefully, more musicians step up to the plate and give back to those suffering. That is the least that major artists with a voice can do.
