‘The Wendy Williams Show’ will no longer be airing in June in light of the talk show host’s mental health concerns.
‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Will Be Cancelled In June-‘We Believe It Is Best For Our Fans’
Wendy, for her part, has been suffering from Graves’ disease. While that is difficult in and of itself, the very fact of the matter is that she had been going through financial issues too.
She had gotten herself involved in a dispute with financial adviser Lori Schiller, who had suggested that Wendy was of ‘unsound mind.’
This meant she could not access her bank accounts. But after having managed to settle the dispute, Wendy will now be looking to focus on her health.
Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, who happen to be the executives of the show, had this to say: “We believe it is best for our fans, stations and advertising partners to start making this transition now.”
In her place, Sherri Shepherd will be undertaking her duties. It has been a bittersweet moment, since it marks an end to Wendy’s long-term affinity with the fans.
While a transition was inevitable, given the uncertainties surrounding her health, it was nevertheless an emotional moment. But as the torch has been passed on, Sherri is delighted to be given an opportunity to shine.
In an official statement, she said: “OMG! I am so excited to have my dream come true and debut my very own talk show.” The social media response was one of sadness.
A large proportion of people felt that the show would never be the same, given that Wendy had forged so many memories.
One fan wrote: “’Wendy Williams was a legend on radio and a legend as a talk show host. The way she transitioned to TV and was at the top of her game, no one can ever do what she did. Iconic in both fields!”
It is too early to tell if Sherri will be a successful host. But if she can manage to achieve half of what Wendy had managed to do, then the fans will be in for a treat. We will have to see how Sherri gets on.
