Rapper Snoop Dogg has spoken out in response to the recent allegations that he had sexually assaulted a woman.
Snoop Dogg Denies Sexual Assault Allegations-‘This Shakedown Scheme Is Disgraceful’
Reports indicate that the rapper had been sued after a woman claimed that he and a member of his entourage, Bishop Don Juan had tried to have oral sex with her against her will.
But given that the assault was alleged to have occurred in 2013, it has naturally raised doubts over why this had not been resolved at that time. That is why Snoop Dogg has shut down these claims.
In an official statement on behalf of the rapper, a representative said: “The allegations of sexual assault against Calvin Broadus (a.k.a. Snoop Dogg) are simply meritless.
“They appear to be part of a self-enrichment shakedown scheme to extort Snoop Dogg right before he performs during this Sunday’s Super Bowl half-time show.”
If those comments are taken to be true, then it would perhaps explain the timing of the allegations. After all, the rapper is going to be performing at one of the biggest events in the world.
Not only that, but it is also claimed that the plaintiff is wanting damages around $10 million. As of now, there looks to be no possibility that Snoop Dogg will be settling the lawsuit as he maintains that he is innocent.
The representative added: “To be clear, Mr. Broadus has never had any sexual encounter whatsoever with ‘Jane Doe.’ What is clear is that this shakedown scheme is disgraceful.”
The response on social media was divisive, as people were torn between wanting to get to the bottom of it, as well as questioning the fact that why did the allegations take so long to come to light in the first place.
One person wrote: “The rapper Snoop Dog is in trouble and is accused of 2013 sexual assault and also trafficking…I hope all the sickos get caught asap!!!!!!”
With neither side backing down, this lawsuit could potentially drag on much to the detriment of Snoop Dogg. That is why the rapper will be hoping that this is put to bed as soon as possible.
