The National Football League Washington franchise has finally found a name and fans aren’t thrilled. The reactions have not been great and weird tweets between the franchise and the President of the United States have also been criticized.
The Washington Commanders is now the official name of the franchise and released a bunch of information on their social media, along with photos of the new jerseys. I suspect we’ll still be seeing plenty of old jerseys from when they were the Redskins, however, as I’m not sure fans are going to want to purchase a ton of Commanders merch.
Commander’s merch is on its way 🐶

Reactions To The Washington Commanders Name Change Are Terrible
Fans reacted to the name change on social media, “I still can’t believe it took you Guys 18 months to take the name from @aafcommanders and you stole their #TakeCommand hashtag too. It’s like #DanSnyder and everyone else made zero effort. #Redwolves was perfect #WashingtonFootball #WashingtonCommanders #NFL #commanders #ESPN”
“Should have left it as Redskins. It was not Racist. I know of American Indians who have said as much. When politics get into the game of football this is what happens… They will always be the Redskins to me.”
“The new uniforms have no ties to our past. The white has no gold and I’ll argue no burgundy. How about our classic stripes on the helmet? Take the awfully designed commanders off the burgundy jersey. No stripes on pants or socks? Gold face mask? Why the stolen valor design?”
“Seriously, it took two years to come up with THAT?”
However, the team President Jason Wright is very excited about the change, saying,
“We are very excited about our final selection, which aligns with our values, carries forth our rich history, represents the region and, most importantly, is inspired and informed by you, our fans.”
