All My Children alum and undisputed Queen of Daytime television, Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) has opened up on GMA about her recent health scare.
On Valentines Day 2022, Lucci certainly had hearts on her mind as she spoke to Amy Robach about her battle with heart disease and her recent health emergency.
“I was having kind of a shortness of breath,” the 75 year old soap legend shared before further describing symptoms like discomfort around her ribcage and sharp coming-and-going pains in the jaw that had her seeking emergent help.

Lucci called her doctor after recognizing the similar symptoms that had led to a near fatal heart attack over three years earlier, only to discover she required an urgent stent placement in her heart.
Lucci described how she had plaque build-up in one of her arteries, so bad it had caused an 80% blockage.
“She wasn’t having a heart attack this time and she wasn’t unstable,” Lucci’s doctor, Dr. Richard Shlofmitz, told GMA while praising the Emmy winner for acting quickly. “She had symptoms that were certainly concerning to me that something might be wrong.’
Lucci wasn’t on GMA to be ‘woe is me’ but to create awareness about heart disease, particularly in women.
“Listen to your heart and act,” Lucci urged GMA viewers. “Give yourself permission to take good care of yourself. Be your own best friend. Be your own advocate. You’ll save your life.”
The All My Children alum has been an advocate for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign since she suffered but survived a near fatal heart attack in 2018, commonly referred to as ‘The Widowmaker’.
‘As a woman you think about breast cancer, not a heart attack,’ the soap star explained, adding, ‘We often put ourselves on the back burner but if your body is telling you something, we need to pay attention.’
