Netflix’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Director David Blue Garcia Already Has Plenty Of Plans For A Sequel

Netflix’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘ just released, but the director is already planning out the sequel! Legendary Pictures acquired the film rights to the franchise after Lionsgate lost them due to a delay in releasing 2017’s ‘Leatherface’. So, this will set Legendary on a path to shape the franchise in its image. They began doing this by ignoring every other film in the franchise, except the original, and played off of that with this film.

Garcia explained that he has lots of ideas and ways he would want to continue the franchise.

“I’ve actually brainstormed quite a bit about what would happen in a continuation of this story, or just another tale in this world. I have some really cool ideas that I’d love to have the opportunity to pitch if Legendary wants to make another one.”

There are a ton of ways the next film could go. It could see the same character once again with a new cast as Leatherface stalks after her to finally kill her. Or, they could do a completely new cast, and move the timeline along somewhere else in the future. Garcia continued to say,

“There are also things when I watched this movie that I look back on and I wish I had done, so I’ve got those in my back pocket if I get to do another one. And of course, there’s that teaser at the end of the film, so there’s definitely a future to explore.”

It’s almost a guarantee that Legendary will want to do another film as ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ ranked number 2 and drew in over 29,000,000 hours of viewing on the streaming platform. While it caught a lot of flak from fans of the franchise, it was enjoyable nonetheless, and if the director has some ideas that could make for a better second film, why not do it?
