The true story of how news of Josh Duggar molesting his sisters got out will absolutely shock you, because if it hadn’t been for an accidental letter left in a loaned out book, the secret probably would have been taken to the Duggar girls’ graves.

Originally, the only people who knew about Josh Duggar molesting his sisters were the adult friends of the Duggars’, Jim and Bobye Holt, but it was said that after they learned of the news that their relationship with the Duggars became strained. (Understandably so, who can keep news like that under wraps without cracking?)

So, how was Josh Duggar’s ‘transgression’ originally brought to light?

The Holt’s daughter, Kaeleigh, detailed the abuse in a letter to her favorite author, but didn’t actually end up sending the letter, rather she stuck the letter in a book and forgot all about it. It wasn’t until Kaeleigh lent the book to a friend that was in their tight-knight church community that news began to spread like wildfire of what Josh had done.

If Kaeleigh’s name sounds familiar, originally there was supposed to be a courtship between Josh and Kaeleigh, but it was said that it was broken off… and now we kind of know why. The Holt’s obviously didn’t want their daughter mixed up with any kind of dealings like that and we can stand behind that decision wholeheartedly.

It’s not said who exactly this friend was that Kaeleight loaned the book to, but after the news started spreading like wildfire through the church community, someone emailed Harpo Production Studios when the Duggars were slated to fly to Oprah’s for an interview, and that’s how the police got notified, Harpo Productions faxed the email to the authorities or else it would have never gotten brought to light.

The circles the Duggars run in would never have notified the police because they think that sexual sin is a sin of a spiritual nature and should be handled by the church, which they called themselves doing but obviously it was not enough. When the scandal was originally brought out into the open, Josh was 18 but his sisters were still minors.

This initial report got sent out to In Touch Weekly originally without redactions – or rather, the redactions were printed a day too late and the mail had already run. This eventually resulted in a civil lawsuit from the Duggar girls that has since been thrown out. Stay tuned!!!
