    Jimmy Carr

British comedian Jimmy Carr has faced a significant amount on backlash in response to his Holocaust joke.

British Comedian Jimmy Carr Slammed For His Joke About The ‘Holocaust’-‘We Are Disgusted And Outraged’

During the course of his show, Jimmy had decided to use an analogy of the six million reported Jewish people that had been killed in the Holocaust to make a comparison by way of the gypsies.

The latter community had also suffered at the hands of the Nazi regime, but during the course of his routine, Jimmy downplayed their persecution. In fact, he went on to mock them with the following joke.

In the video here, we can see that Jimmy had stated the following: “When people talk about the Holocaust, they talk about the tragedy and horror of six million Jewish lives being lost to the Nazi war machine.

“But they never mention the thousands of gypsies that were killed by the Nazis. No one ever talks about that because no one wants to talk about the positives.”

Although Jimmy’s joke did bring laughter from the audience, there was no denying the fact that the reaction on social media was anything but laughter.

A significant proportion of people were outraged that this could be viewed as comedy, especially since gypsies had historically been persecuted, with this still occurring to this day within certain countries.

And things had gotten so bad that a charity had decided to intervene and condemn the comedian for his comments, particularly since it could lead to backlash being directed towards the community.

Friends, Families and Travellers, which happens to be a charity working with gypsies, had this to say: “We are disgusted and outraged to see Jimmy Carr celebrate and trivialise the Roma Holocaust in which over 500,000 Roma and Sinti people were killed, subject to torture and medical experimentation.”

It is not exactly clear whether there are going to be any ramifications for Jimmy, but given the fact that we do live in a cancel culture, there is every chance that he could face some serious consequences.

We will have to see how this will play out going forward. So what do you think? If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
