From 1000-Lb Sisters, Tammy Slaton has been in a medically induced coma because of her lungs. Her breathing has been horrible for years and after she came down with COVID-19, things looked really bleak for the reality star.
Tammy has been struggling with health issues for quite some time and this was the icing on the cake. She was rushed to the hospital when she couldn’t stay alert and her breathing had slowed rapidly. Her brother, told fans, “her health had taken a turn for the worse.”

Tammy had been in a weight loss rehab facility and many of her friends and family thought that she was starting to get much better. She knew that she needed to go to the rehab center in order to change her life, but she ended up checking herself out of it after she met a weight loss goal.

Her family was shocked by this because she really needed to be there in order to lose more weight. With the weight loss of about 115 pounds, she felt that she was doing just fine. When Tammy was rushed to the hospital, she had stopped breathing altogether.
Her sister, Amanda, told fans, “They’re just telling us her lungs have given up, and like her body is shutting down. So at this point, you know, we’re facking making funeral arrangements for my little sister. I’m just sitting here thinking, ‘Oh my god. She’s been in such a bad place for so long. And now that she has the courage to step out and get the help that she needs, now this.” Tammy was placed in a medically induced coma because of her lungs.
Tammy’s brother told fans, “They didn’t know if she was going to make it through the night. Or make it through the next hour. And we stayed four days or so up there. And then the last day we was there, she woke up. And she kept telling us she loved us and wanted to go home.” The doctors did give her a tracheotomy so that she could breathe easier, but this was a terrible scare for the family.
We are glad that Tammy is starting to recover and we will have to keep an eye on her on her Instagram account and on 1000-LB Sisters on TLC.
