‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) fans were delighted to see Sean Kanan reprise his role as bad boy Deacon, more than 20 years after he first breezed into Los Angeles to mess life up for Ambre Moore (Adrienne Franz).
Now we hear from Sean that he was just as happy to be back with his old castmates. “One of the things I love so much about working at Bold and Beautiful [is that] the people I work with are wonderful, and I really feel like they care about me as a person which, of course, goes both ways,” he told Soap Opera Digest earlier this month. He added, “I’ve worked at other places and that’s not always the case.”
Of course, there’s still the torch Deacon holds for Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and in regards to working alongside the actress, Sean reveals, “It feels like we haven’t missed a beat. I think the connection between the characters is still strong and we are able to, not re-create it on screen, but reach back to the history and tap into that.”
‘The Bold and the Beautiful’: Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe) Dishes On What It’s Like To Be Amongst The Forrester/Logan Clan Again
In Sean’s mind, Brooke will always be the one who got away for Deacon. Too bad about that pesky husband, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). While Sean believes Deacon’s love for Brooke is “100 percent justified”, he laughingly admits if he was in Ridge’s shoes, “I’d get a shotgun.”
“I completely understand Ridge’s blatant apprehension and wanting Deacon to leave now,” the Cobra Kai alum said.
As for the father/daughter dynamic with Hope Logan-Spencer (Annika Noelle), Sean is singing his onscreen daughter’s praises. “Hope is pretty formidable. I’d be a little leerier about Deacon disturbing Hope and not getting on her bad side.”
He added that he is very impressed with where Annika has taken the legacy character.
Of course, its not all Logans all day. Audiences now look forward to the banter between Deacon and frenemy, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). And so does Sean.
“She is terrific. I love working with Kimberlin. It’s this crazy, unlikely friendship, and she is an actress who likes to take chances, which is something I’ve always liked. That’s what I like to do, too. We are just having a great time together.”
One thing Sean finds unfair is that no one remembers that Deacon was the one to get Brooke back on the wagon back in 2015 when her alcohol addiction flared back up. Oh, and the constant double standards that drive fans crazy.
“If you look at all the crap that Ridge and Bill have done, they seem to get away with it with impunity and yet Deacon is vilified for it. The only thing that separates them is that they have money. Imagine if Deacon could come into finance? All Deacon is doing is trying to fight the good fight.”
Maybe he should separate himself from Sheila a little more…and stop doing shots with an alcoholic…and stop lusting after another man’s wife…
But that will never happen…phew!
