    Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II may be known for having access to the finest things in the world, but not much is known about her love of fast food.

The last thing that you would expect to hear is that the monarch would be interested in tucking into greasy takeaways. And yet, that statement has proven to be true to some extent according to Royal chef Darren O’Grady.

The chef would happen to be in the know by virtue of the fact that he had been working with the Royal family, as a cook for around 15 years.

But before the speculation emerged as to whether she prefers KFC or McDonalds, Darren clarified any misunderstandings by suggesting that any burgers were made fresh and in house.

In an interview, Darren said: “It always tickled me at Balmoral, we would make our own burgers. They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers.

“There’d be gorgeous cranberry stuffed into them, but we never set buns out.” But just as it is revealing what she does like to eat, the same can be said of the things that the Queen likes to avoid.

Accordingly, Darren suggests that there are two items on the menu which the Queen likes to stay away from. This includes pizza and garlic.

Given that there have been serious concerns about her health of late, it is probably why she takes precautions with her diet.

After all, she is not getting any younger coupled with the fact that she has seen people very close to her pass away recently including none other than her late husband Prince Philip.

Much in the same way, when the Queen goes on official state visits abroad, she also tries to be extra vigilant. This includes staying away from seafood in case it could result in food poisoning, or at the very least, leave her stomach feeling unsatisfied.

Darren added: “The royal entourage likes progress to run smoothly, free from the disruptions of gastronomic indisposition. Hence the ban on shellfish.”

So that is all you need to get one step closer to eating like a Queen. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
