Former Playboy Mansion model Holly Madison has opened up on what it was like to work under the tutelage of the late Hugh Hefner.

Her latest disclosures were part of a new documentary entitled ‘The Secrets of Playboy.’ And given that Hugh had a variety of girlfriends, it is not surprising to hear that he engaged in conduct that was often inappropriate as shown by the increasing number of women speaking out against him now that he is dead.

And as Holly had personally dated Hugh for a period of 8-years, she could not be in a better position to reveal everything that went down during her time in the mansion.

In an episode of the documentary, Holly admitted that Hugh had a cult of personality that would keep people in line.

She said: “The reason I think the mansion was very cult-like looking back on it is because we were all kind of gaslit and expected to think of Hef as like this really good guy.

“And you started to feel like, ‘Oh, he’s not what they say in the media, he’s just a nice man.” In an attempt to keep people on his side, Hugh would often resort to offering lavish gifts or allowances so that they had become more dependent on him.

Of particular note was that Holly was informed that she should quit her waitressing job after she had just started it, as Hugh promised to give her an allowance that would allow her to get by.

But looking back, it was clear that there were strings attached to this. By doing this, the women in the mansion became more withdrawn from society.

Holly added: “It was so easy to get isolated from the outside world there. You had a 9 o’clock curfew. You were encouraged to not have friends over.

“You weren’t really allowed to leave unless it was like a family holiday.” Holly’s story is just one of many from the women who happened to be in the company of Hugh.

But now that he is no longer here, these accounts will serve as an example of how people can be taken advantage of by powerful people.
