Andy Cohen has spoken out in response to the backlash he has received after he had brutally shaded Ryan Seacrest during his New Year’s Eve live show.

Andy Cohen Defends His Drunken Behaviour During His New Year’s Eve Show-‘I Will Not Be Shamed’

Andy, for his part, had been visibly drunk on the show which caused him to behave outside of what he would usually do.

While this did resonate with the audience, by virtue of the fact that his drunken behaviour had created some unforgettable entertainment, the very fact of the matter is that his conduct was out of order.

He ended up attacking another network as well as their host. But for all the criticism coming his way, he defended his drunken state given that he was just enjoying the festivities just like other people had been doing.

During an interview on the Howard Stern show, Andy said: “Listen, I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year’s Eve/ That’s why I’m there, that’s why they bring me there. It’s a four-and-a-half-hour show.”

One of the reasons why Andy felt this way was because he was informed that he had to make the show something to remember.

Although he did end up doing such a thing, it was sadly for the wrong reasons given that CNN had to come out and give a statement in response after Andy was being subjected to huge criticism from the public.

However, for Andy, that all comes with the territory. He added: “There you go, that is my job.” And with that, it is important to put Andy’s comments into the broader context.

First of all,  it had been a very difficult year by virtue of the fact that the pandemic has caused chaos across the globe. Therefore, it is understandable that people would want to enjoy life as much as possible since the New Year presented an opportunity to start things afresh.

Secondly, Ryan did not reply to Andy’s statement which would suggest that there was not a lot of damage done. Hopefully Andy has learnt from this mistake, and therefore, he will be in a better position to avoid doing such a thing next time around.
