Christmas is nearly here, but not everybody has been taking that very well after one man was arrested for burning down a Christmas tree outside Fox News in Manhattan.
Homeless Man Arrested After Setting Fire To A Christmas Tree Outside Fox News
According to reports, the New York Police Department ended up arresting a homeless man, Craig Tamanaha, after believing he had set fire to the huge Christmas tree that stood an apparent 50-feet tall.
Although no one was injured or killed by the incident, the fire department had to react quickly, given that there was smoke beginning to fill the inside of the office building.
In the video here, we can see that an observer has caught the incident on camera. The Christmas tree is burning at an intense rate, with the man heard saying, ‘Yeah, crazy.’ The footage then switches to the fire department that has arrived to put the fire out.
Accordingly, Craig has been arrested and charged with “criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, arson, disorderly conduct and criminal tampering.” The extent of this damage is a total of around $500,000.
The news naturally shook up a lot of people, none other than the workers at Fox News themselves. Shannon Bream, who happens to be a host on the network, had the misfortune of reporting on the incident just as the firefighters arrived on the scene.
At the time of the incident, she remarked: “This is the Fox Square in New York, outside of Fox headquarters. It appears that our giant Christmas tree there, just a couple of minutes ago, was completely engulfed in flames.”
The response on social media, however, was a lot more bizarre. A large proportion of people took the incident as a form of entertainment, which could only be explained by the fact that they may not have been the biggest fans of Fox News or Christmas.
One person on Twitter wrote: “I’m still enjoying this.” This may have spoiled the day of those who put up the Christmas tree, but one thing this story has shown is that people are not going to let the festivities stop, as another Christmas tree will most likely follow.
