‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers find that the season ended just as most fans predicted, with Brandon Jones’ heart being smashed into a trillion little pieces and Michelle riding off into the sunset, all affianced with Babatunde Obafemi Robert Nathaniel Olukoya, a.k.a. Nate.
As guest host Kaitlyn Bristowe (who was live and flying solo after co-host Tayshia Adams was exposed to Covid) warned, the break-up between Michelle and Brandon was painful to watch, but fans were happy to see Michelle choose the man who was first out of the limos and who received her first impression rose. This makes Michelle the 8th Bachelorette to become engaged to the man they awarded with that special first rose of the season.
‘The Bachelorette’ Spoilers: Michelle Young And Her New Fiancé Receive Huge $200K Check To Use As A Down Payment
In contrast only 2 Bachelors have ended up engaged to the women who they presented with the first impression rose and even then, it wasn’t truly as “cosmic” as it sounds. Peter Weber did give his first impression rose to Hannah Ann Sluss who was one of the 18 or so women he decided was “the one” in the end and Sean Lowe gave one of his 12 first impression roses to his now-wife, Catherine Giudici.
Still don’t believe in women’s intuition? But I digress…
Just as Michelle believed life couldn’t get any better, now that she and Nate can scream from the mountain tops in public “I’m engaged!” ala Monica Geller, ABC presented the couple with a check to go towards the down payment of the house they divulged they are currently hunting for in Minnesota.
This wasn’t just a small gesture on behalf of the production. The check was to the tune of $200K!
‘That right there is from us in the Bachelor family,’ Kaitlyn told the pair as the check was presented, inside a gingerbread house and given to Michelle and Nate at the After the Final Rose taping. ‘And that is a — I’m going to cry — that’s a down payment on your first home together.’
Michelle and Nate were predictably speechless at receiving such a generous gift, the first of its kind in the history of the show. However, after gathering her thoughts, Michelle later took to Instagram to write: “Nate and I cannot express how grateful we are to have received the incredibly generous gift that we will be used to purchase our first home together! Although this @abcbachelorette journey has come to an end, we are so excited to bring y’all with us as we start our life together! House warming invites to be sent soon #BachelorNation!’
We can’t help but wonder if this will be a ‘thing’ going forward or if Michelle was just special. Then again, ABC likely has a whole wad of excess cash on them now that they don’t have to pay Chris Harrison!
We’ll have to wait and see if Clayton Echard receives a similar gift at the end of his season of The Bachelor, premiering on ABC on January 3!
