‘Survivor’ has been airing so long and with such a rabid fan base that you can barely swing a virtual cat without running into a fansite, blog, or podcast. It was on one of these podcasts, Drop Your Buffs that long-time fan favorite and four-time appearing castaway, Ozzy Lusth recently revealed how several of the jurors from season 34’s “Game Changers” almost instantly regretted their votes.
The final tribal council of season 34, also known as Mamanuca Islands saw Sarah Lacina, Brad Culpepper, and Troyzan Robertson pleading their cases to a jury of 10. Sarah, a cop from Iowa was then crowned sole survivor, winning with seven jury votes (Brad scored three, Troyzan earned zero).
‘Survivor’ Spoilers: Fan Favorite Spills the Tea On Why The ‘Game Changers’ Jury Instantly Regretted Their Vote
Ozzy explained to the Drop Your Buffs hosts, Sean Ross and Evan Ross Katz how, after the votes were made, the cast went back to Ponderosa to celebrate the end of filming.
This is when some of those who’d cast their votes for Sarah wished they had Erika Casupanan’s ‘Turn Back Time’ advantage to change their vote.
Why?
“So, at the end of ‘Game Changers,’ after the votes have all been cast, and we all go to Ponderosa…Sarah shows up,” Ozzy explained, “puts on her Trump [MAGA] hat, and everyone’s like ‘[gasps] oh! Wait, we just…wait, we just did th– no! Can we– can we take that back?’”
Ozzy, who voted for Brad further said, “I was like, ‘Ah, you suckers!’”
The 40-year-old photographer and actor went on to say both Cirie Fields and Andrea Boehlke were particularly upset with themselves after learning of Sarah’s political alignment with the then-Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
We wonder how they feel about that vote now.
Ozzy isn’t the first to discuss Sarah’s ‘controversial’ win on Game Changers. Famously touted as being a transgender man during that 34th season, Zeke Smith was and still is a supporter of Sarah. However he, too was shocked when Sarah showed up at the Ponderosa party.
“I remember she walked into dinner after the Final Tribal Council after we voted to give her a million dollars, and she was wearing a MAGA hat, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God!’” Zeke explained. He also said while recording for the Las Culturistas podcast in July last year, “I remember it being very perplexing.”
Zeke, however, says he still maintains a friendship with Sarah despite believing she has a “cognitive dissonance”, saying she and several other Trump devotees “can have friends who are LGBT, they can have friends who are liberal, they can have friends who are Muslim, where they’re like ‘Oh, these are good people, but I’m still gonna vote for Trump because of these like external political beliefs that I have.”
Season 41 of Survivor recently aired with Erika Casupanan being the first woman crowned as sole survivor since Sarah’s win.
Survivor 42 will premiere on March 9, 2022.
