Seth Rogen’s trailer to his latest project entitled ‘Santa Inc.’ has been bombarded by what looks to be a series of anti-Semitic comments.
Seth Rogen’s Trailer For His New Movie ‘Santa Inc’ Reportedly Trolled By Anti-Semites And Holocaust Deniers
The movie centres around an elf, played by Sarah Silverman who wants to take over the role of Father Christmas (Seth Rogen). While such a storyline seems entirely innocent, it looks as though many people were offended by it.
As of now, there is not a lot to state why this movie was targeted for anti-Semitic comments other than the fact that the production team is made up of a majority of Jewish people.
In the picture here, we can see that the majority of the production team and actors were of Jewish origin. While there is nothing to state that this is not allowed, certain people seemed offended by what they felt was a traditional Christian holiday which failed to get honoured.
And as that started to gain traction, further hateful comments came to the fore. One person had continuously referred to the number 6 million, in reference to the amount of Holocaust deaths: “The Elves claim to have made 6 million toys in the span of five years.
“Using modern methods, each toy takes approximately one hour to make…The math doesn’t seem to add up. I think the elves are lying.”
The response on social media was one of outrage. People could not understand why Youtube would allow such comments to be posted on their platform.
As such, they felt that the platform had to do more with some even suggesting that these comments should be censored with a potential criminal punishment.
In a post on Twitter, one user remarked: “Not posting screenshots, but there is some of the most disgusting antisemitism and Holocaust denial in comments on the trailer for Santa Inc.
In response, Youtube has decided to turn off the comments function on the trailer to prevent any other people from commenting and creating a situation that could end up leading to further divisions.
