‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ star Gina Kirschenheiter has revealed that she felt uneasy about her future on the show in light of the firings of Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke.
Real Housewives of Orange County: Gina Kirschenheiter Was Concerned About Her Future On The Show
The decision to let the former pair leave was due to the fact that the producers wanted to revamp the show and take it into a new direction. Kelly’s departure was not surprising given her controversial comments on the show about Covid-19.
While Gina had not done anything which suggested that she could be out of the door, the very fact that it was a possibility is something that played on her mind.
In an interview with Us Weekly, she said: “I was actually relieved because for a minute I was like, ‘Oh, they fired half the cast, oh my gosh, it’s so much pressure now.”
Nevertheless, Gina was reassured by the arrival of a former housewife: Step forward Heather Dubrow. She recently returned to the show, with a particular focus on her daughter Alex who came out as non-binary.
And given that Gina was looking forward to meeting one of the OG members of the show, it made her feel a lot more comfortable in dealing with the pressured environment.
She added: “I thought I would get along with her because she’s from where I’m from. I always found her to be — when I watched the show — very reasonable, but I was surprised by how cool she was.”
That is not to say that everything was going smoothly though. Gina admitted that her relationship with Shannon Beador was very difficult at the beginning.
They had apparently butted heads when Gina stressed that Shannon and her boyfriend John Janssen had not been treating each other well. Naturally, Shannon did not take that very well. And yet, Gina has managed to put that behind her.
She continued: “I actually feel really good. I feel really good about the season. I feel really good about our cast.”
Gina has certainly kept herself out of the firing line, but given the nature of the show, there is always the possibility of people either joining or leaving.
