MMA fighter David Koenig‘s remains have been found in a wooded area of Missouri. The discovery was made last week, nearly two years after he went missing. According to the Branson Police Department, a man searching for deer antlers on Dec. 22 discovered the skeletal remains, and an investigation was launched.
Koenig was reported missing back in 2020 after his friends and family say he disappeared from an Inn in Brandon and send weird messages asking for help. Authorities say they searched for Koenig for “thousands of hours”.

After finding his remains on Monday, investigators say there were no signs of trauma and believe there was no “foul play” involved in his death.
Koenig’s mother, Tracy Koenig wrote of the news on a Facebook page, “Mystery of the Missing Fighter“,
“It is with great and utter sadness, I am regretfully confirming that David has been found.” She continued to say that the rumors were false and he wasn’t killed like many had suspected, “He was not shot, stabbed, no broken bones of any sort. He wasn’t robbed, as his tattered wallet was still intact as well as the two silver necklaces he always wor amongst some other things. All the rumors were FALSE! Nobody killed Dave.”
Koenig was just 25-years-old when he went missing in 2020.
“While this is not the ending we hoped for,” Branson Police Chief Jeff Matthews said, “We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Koenig.”
