Michael J. Fox has continued to stay positive amid his terminal battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Michael J. Fox Remains Optimistic Despite His Struggles With Parkinson’s Disease-‘Gratitude Makes Optimism Sustainable’

The star, who is best known for the ‘Back to the Future’ films, was first diagnosed with the disease in 1991. This was a significant blow at the time, as his career was taking off following the release of the ‘Back to the Future’ movies.

But through it all, he has managed to look towards the happiness that he is still able to enjoy. During an interview with AARP magazine, Michael said: “I am genuinely a happy guy.

“I started to notice things I was grateful for and the way other people would respond to difficulty with gratitude. I concluded that gratitude makes optimism sustainable.”

One of the main reasons that made Michael feel this buoyant was the ‘Back to the Future’ films. He admitted that he watched his performance in it and was pleased with how he came across.

Given that the movie has gone on to become one of the most iconic pieces in filming history, Michael was elated at just how much it had influenced people.

He added: “I came across it on TV last Christmas…I got the spirit of the movie. I understood it was just a big giggle and that we all need… to take credit for what we’ve done and the lives we’ve touched.”

Nevertheless, Michael does recognise the difficulties associated with the disease. He is currently 60-years-old and therefore not getting any younger.

But unlike others who may be struggling to deal with things financially, Michael stated that he is lucky to be in a situation where money is not something that is going to be keeping him preoccupied.

His following comments confirmed as much: “The disease is this thing that attached to my life — it isn’t the driver. And because I have assets, I have access to things others don’t.”

Michael’s story has inspired many people around the world to continue fighting in the face of such adversity. Although his movie career was never the same after the disease, he has continued to influence people with his positivity.
