Kim Kardashian has hit back at her critics who have claimed that she has been engaging in cultural appropriation throughout her career.

Kim Kardashian Denies Claims That She Is Engaging In Cultural Appropriation-‘I Would Never’

The primary reason why the star has received backlash is due to the hairstyles that she has gone on to have. But given that her children are of mixed race, it is not surprising that Kim would want to explore both sides of their culture.

And yet, that has not stopped the criticism that has been coming her way. During an interview, Kim denied the accusations that were coming her way.

She said: “I would never do anything to appropriate any culture. But I have in the past got blacklash from putting my hair in braids and I understand that.”

Kim went on to defend her actions by stating how her daughter, North, enjoys having the same hairstyle as her mother. As such, there have been occasions where the pair have decided to match up which is why Kim has been accused of cultural appropriation.

And given that it is hard to negotiate with a child at the best of times, this has left her in a difficult position.

She added: “I’ve had these conversation with her [North] that are like, ‘Hey, maybe this hairstyle would be better on you and not on me.’

“But I also want her to feel that I can do a hairstyle with her and not make it that big of deal either.” With that in mind, Kim stressed how she values the importance of her own culture.

After all, not many people know that she is in fact from an Armenian background, rather than just the American culture that she has been associated with. And these cultural differences are something that she wants to educate her children on.

Kim’s following comments confirmed as much: “I’ve tried to pass that culture of learning onto my kids too, but then there’s also a history of braiding hair in Armenia and people forget that.”

As long as Kim and North are on the same page, then it is hard for people to comment on what they should be doing. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
