The beef between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Vin Diesel is alive and well with The Rock calling Vin out for being manipulative as Vin tugs at heartstrings in the hopes to get The Rock to sign on for Fast 10.
It was widely reported that The Rock and Vin clashed on set of “The Fate of the Furious”, the 8th installment in the hugely successful Fast and Furious franchise. Though the Rock has publicly, and privately, stated he will not return for the 10th and final film, Vin apparently has not heard the mantra “no means no”.
Instead he posted an impassioned and very public plea to the Rock on Instagram
Along with a photo pf the two actors in a scene from “Fast 8”, Vin wrote:
“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come.
Legacy awaits.
I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
Though this was posted in November, The Rock has only now just responded, telling CNN that the IG post was “an example of manipulation.” He further explained to the news outlet that he had connected with Vin back in the summer “not over social media” and had told him very directly that “I would not be returning to the franchise”.
The Jungle Cruise star added, “I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return.”
Along with making the request public, The Rock took issue with Vin including his children and the late Paul Walker (the aforementioned “Pablo”), using them as pawns in a hope to tug on The Rock’s heartstrings. Of course, the public pressure put onto the Rock was also very uncomfortable, but the former WWE champion is unmoving.
“We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding. My goal all along was to end my amazing journey with this incredible ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise with gratitude and grace.”
You gotta stop being so thirsty, Vin. Time to recast or rewrite!
