In a shocking twist of reality show marriages, Christine and Kody Brown called it quits this past week, and fans were shocked that she was the first wife to bail out. Meri Brown seemed to be the first one that would leave him, but it seems that Christine had enough.
Kody posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday, “Christine’s decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness. We enjoyed many years together and I have a large amount of respect and admiration for her. Although we are moving forward on different paths, we will always remain committed parents.”
Sister Wives: Christine Brown’s Aunt Makes Confession
Christine’s aunt made a confession on a podcast called Reality Life with Kate Casey. Kristyn Decker thinks that Christine has been unhappy for many years and she was just trying to find out the right time and way to get out of this marriage. She said that she wasn’t surprised in the slightest by her leaving him.
She told the podcast, “I could see it coming. I don’t think Christine’s been genuine- what I call genuinely happy- for forever, since day one. It’s kind of impossible to have a marriage when you’ve got a division like that with four women- five, whatever, it’s going to be, and a lot of children. That’s not a partnership. It’s not a real marriage. And so I’ve just felt bad for her and others from day one. As well, I was in a plural marriage. So I had to support that way back when, but it still breaks my heart. I don’t think any women are genuinely happy in that.”
Decker also went on to talk more about what we see on the show and how it really isn’t the truth to their story. She said that there is a lot of sadness that goes on that no one ever sees.
She told listeners, “The feelings that Christine and the other women are finally starting to show after all this time- and it started a while back. I was grateful that some of the truth is coming out in the show about the hardships of polygamy. But for the longest time, they were glamorizing it, and it just wasn’t real.”
It was great for Decker to open up more about Christine and to give us all a little more insight into what goes on in the Brown marriage.
The new season of Sister Wives premieres on TLC on November 21 at 10 p.m. EST.
