Well, this certainly explains a lot of things. Meghan Markle has issued an apology to a court in London for apparently forgetting a discussion she had about providing personal information to the authors of the biography, “Finding Freedom.”

Meghan is embroiled in a court battle in London over a British newspaper’s publication of portions of a letter she wrote to her estranged father after her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry.

The Appeal Court heard she had asked an aide to pass on information to the authors of a biography – despite having earlier said she “did not contribute.” Meghan said she had forgotten the events and had not intended to mislead. Associated Newspapers is trying to overturn a ruling after it published a letter from the duchess to her father.

It came as the court of appeal heard that the royal couple’s former communications secretary provided information to the Finding Freedom authors, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. Meghan’s former communications director Jason Knauf said in a witness statement that the book was “discussed on a routine basis”, which was “discussed directly with the duchess multiple times in person and over email.”

He also discussed planning a meeting with the authors to provide background information and said Meghan had given him several briefing points to share with them, including how she had “very minimal contact” with her half-siblings during her childhood.

Meghan’s witness statement, made public on Wednesday, saw her apologize for misleading the court about whether Mr Knauf had provided information to the authors.

She said: “I accept that Mr Knauf did provide some information to the authors for the book and that he did so with my knowledge, for a meeting that he planned for with the authors in his capacity as communications secretary.”

Meghan sued the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and the MailOnline website for breach of privacy and copyright. A High Court judge ruled in her favor in February, saying publication of the letter Meghan wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, was “manifestly excessive and hence unlawful.”
