Matthew McConaughey is doing his part to stand up for families. In fact, the Hollywood actor says that he’s against a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for kids, hasn’t vaccinated his own kids yet, and says that he wants to “find out more information” before giving them the jab. The actor, who is vaccinated, says that as of right now, he has no plans to vaccinate his children. Here’s what you need to know.

In an interview with the New York Times, Matthew says, “I couldn’t mandate having to vaccinate the younger kids” while also adding that he “ still want to find out more information.”

He added, “There will come a time where you’re going to have to roll the dice one way or the other and go: ‘Where are the numbers in my favor?’”

He also shared that as of “right now,” he’s not vaccinating his own children. “Do I think that there’s any kind of scam or conspiracy theory?” he asked. “Hell no, I don’t.”

He suggested the public “get off” such a “narrative,” insisting that “there’s not a conspiracy theory on the vaccines.” The actor added that both he and his wife, Camila Alves, are vaccinated.

He said that his 90-year-old mother, who is staying with them, is immunocompromised, prompting him to receive the vaccine. He insisted he “chose” to do it rather than do it because he was “told” to.

The “Dallas Buyers Club” actor also added that he’s fortunate enough to be able to “quarantine harder” and rely on heavy COVID-19 testing, noting, “I’m in a position, though, where I can do that, and I understand that not everyone can do that.”
