Las Vegas wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was driving 156 mph seconds before causing a fatal crash Tuesday. Ruggs slammed into the back of Toyota at 127 mph with a blood alcohol limit twice the legal limit. The crash killed a 23-year-old woman.
Ruggs appeared in court this morning wearing a neck brace, with just only a small gash on his face caused by the fatal wreck in Las Vegas. Officials have said that both Ruggs’ car and the Toyota rolled over 500 feet after the initial impact where the Toyota caught on fire.
The woman that was killed also had a dog in the car that died.

Officers say Ruggs appeared to be impaired at the scene and refused to participate in any field sobriety tests before he was eventually taken to the hospital. In addition, police also stated they located a gun in Ruggs’ vehicle.
At the moment, Ruggs’ injuries are unknown. Although the mugshot only shows the small gash on his face, the police documents do say the wounds were ‘serious’.
Ruggs has been charged with DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, and reckless driving. He has bail set at $150,000. The judge has also banned Ruggs from consuming alcohol and to abstain from driving where he must also wear an electronic monitoring device.
It’s a tragic story for the woman who Ruggs killed. At the moment, no more information after her has been released.
Ruggs, a former 1st round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders was a star at Alabama and was the fastest player at the 2020 NFL combine. His merchandise has been pulled from stores and his gear removed from location at Allegiant Stadium.
