Actor Kevin Spacey has been ordered to pay somewhere in the region of $31 million towards the producers of the ‘House of Cards.’

This is on the basis that the actor had breached his contract by allegedly engaging in sexual misconduct when the cameras were off.

In response to allegations, the producers had no choice but to release Kevin from a role that he had made his own during the course of 4 years since the show began in 2013.

As a consequence, Kevin had to be replaced by Robin Wright, who took over the lead role for the final season. Naturally, this ended up costing the producers a lot of money.

An investigation was held to determine if Kevin was liable. According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ Kevin lost out following an arbitration meeting.  Although the actor tried to appeal the decision, it was to no avail.

In an official statement by the plaintiffs in the case, they said: “The safety of our employees, sets and work environments is of paramount importance to MRC [production company who made House of Cards] and why we set out to push for accountability.”

The response on social media was very much against Kevin. A large proportion of people felt that justice had been done as it showed people who had a very powerful position in the entertainment industry could be held to account.

And this ruling is only going to encourage others who may be experiencing similar problems to have the courage to come out and speak out against similar behaviour.

One person on Twitter wrote: “This ruling holds so much importance in today’s day and age where it’s become necessary to hold people accountable no matter how big they are. Kudos.”

While another stated: “Pay up, perv.” This ruling will certainly damage Kevin’s movie career and his finances. Given that this has now been made official, it is very hard to see Kevin getting back to those same heights which made him a formerly great actor.

It is safe to say that Kevin’s acting career is as good as done now. If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
