Welcome to 2021, Hova. The godfather of rap, Jay-Z, has just joined Instagram but he’s following just one account – his wife, Beyonce’s. The rapper and businessman, whose real name Shawn Carter, shared his first post on the social media site as @jayz early on Wednesday morning, but then for some reason or another, he left the social media platform. Here’s what you need to know.
For the short time that he was on Instagram, Jay-Z posted a single photo, the poster art for the new Netflix film “The Harder They Fall,” and an IG Story, featuring a countdown for the Black Western’s premiere on the streaming service. He serves as a producer on the project, which stars Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba and Regina King.
Jay-Z Finally Joins Instagram
But after garnering a record 2 million followers in such a short period of time and following just his wife Beyonce’s account, Jay-Z appeared to have deleted his account.
But that’s not all. After he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jay-Z tweeted and made a joke about his social media presence.
“In my excitement , I failed to prize, and acknowledge JAZ-O, he was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible,” he tweeted. “Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so. Thank you all again, incredibly humbled by your love.”
Beyonce, meanwhile, is still going strong with over 217 million followers and one of the most popular accounts on the platform. Yet, the singer is not following anyone on her account, either.
