‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers finds that the last time we saw Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) she was being held captive in Monte Carlo on a surveillance feed prompting Robert, Ethan, and Olivia to go after her and be greatly disappointed upon getting to Monte Carlo and turning up empty-handed.
Where is she? Hopefully we’ll find out sooner rather than later, but the reason why Samms has not been back on the set has nothing to do with being disinterested in playing Holly or not liking the storyline or anything, rather it has everything to do with the effects of long Covid.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Long COVID Prevents Emma Samm’s Return As Holly Sutton On GH
Back when Samms first started the storyline in early 2020, it was pre-quarantine and the world was a completely different place. People went outside without masks and vaccinations were a thing one only worried about if one was going to travel internationally or if one were in the military.
(Also this was pre COVID Vaccine invention.) So first quarantine hit and then Samms unfortunately got sick with COVID. Thankfully she says that the storyline is still most probably going to pick back up when she is well enough to resume production, but for now, long COVID is a thing and she is not well enough to come back to the soap yet.
Samms admitted to being frustrated at being sick but that Executive Producer Frank Valentini and casting director Mark Teschner have been very patient with her and check in from time to time to see how she’s feeling.
“I desperately want to come back and finish that story!” she says, adding that the surveillance footage that show a captive Holly was actually filmed from her own guest room! From the looks of things at least Holly is being held captive in a reasonably cushy place and we can only hope that she recovers soon so that the fans can get the conclusion of just where on earth Holly Sutton is and what she’s been doing all this time.
After all, with the death of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) we’re going to need a new plot line soon. We wish Emma Samms a speedy recovery! Stay tuned!!!
