Even though Adele says that her divorce from her husband Simon Konecki “devastated” her, she’s also crediting him for saving her life. In a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey, the chart-topper said that she is incredibly thankful for her marriage and her son Angelo, despite the way it had all ended. Here’s what she has to say.
“I think Simon probably saved my life, to be honest with you,” Adele reflected. “He came at such a moment, where the stability that he and Angelo have given me, no one else would ever have been able to give me.

“Especially at that time, I was so young and I just, I think I would have got a bit lost in all of it,” she continued, referring to her meteoric rise to fame. “I could have easily gone down some dodgy paths, you know? And sort of self-destructed from being overwhelmed by all of it.”
Adele also says that Simon brought a lot of stability in her life. “He came in and was stable. The most stable person I’ve ever had in my life up until that point. Even now, I trust him with my life,” she added, calling the entrepreneur and their 9-year-old son “angels sent to me.”
With that said, Adele also added that she and her ex Simon Konecki are still on good terms as they are doing everything they can to co-parent their 9-year-old son Angelo as smoothly as possible.
“I didn’t really know myself,” she confessed. “I thought I did. I don’t know if it was because of my Saturn return or if it was because I was well and truly sort of heading into my thirties, but I just didn’t like who I was.”
She also said that divorcing Konecki was hard, even though she knew it was the right thing to do.
“It made me really sad,” she said. “Then having so many people that I don’t know, know, that I didn’t make that work … it f–king devastated me. I was embarrassed. No one made me feel embarrassed, but you feel like you didn’t do a good job.”
