Sir Michael Caine, 88, has announced in an interview this week that he is probably retiring from the world of acting. The legendary star was appearing on BBC Radio 5 to promote his latest movie Best Sellers, which co-stars Aubrey Plaza.
He referred to the film as “my last part, really”. He also spoke about his limited mobility and added, “There’s not exactly scripts pouring in for a leading man that’s 88, you know?”
Caine began his acting career in 1953 when he took a job in West Sussex.

Sir Michael also shared that he hadn’t received many scripts over the last two years as there’s no scripts with “a leading man who’s 88.”
“There haven’t been any offers obviously for two years because nobody’s been making any movies I’d wanna do. But also I’m 88. There’s not exactly scripts pouring out with a leading man who’s 88, you know?”
While he may be mostly known for his whole as Alfred in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Sir Michael Caine has been a legend through out the decades, starring in films such as the original ‘Alfie’, ‘Sleuth’, ‘The Italian Job’, and ‘A Hill in Korea’.
He’s been nominated for six Academy Awards, taking home two of them! Both for best supporting actor in, 1986’s ‘Hannah and Her Sisters’, and 1999’s ‘The Cider House Rules’.
While ‘Best Sellers’ may be his last acting part, it will not be his last film, as he filmed another part for a Czech war film called ‘Medieval’. ‘Medieval’ was shot around 2018, but will not release until next year after postponements over the last few years.
