NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) on health scares and returning to work

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers reveal Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) has returned to the show after a long absence. There was a good reason for her being off the canvas, and the actress opened up to Soap Opera Digest about the scary time she had. Plus, she spoke a bit about Maggie’s future. Let’s take a look at her return and what she had to say.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Welcome back!

First, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal Maggie finally appeared again in the October 6th episode. We were glad to see her back, and we think they did a great job of tying in the past to her absence. It seems Maggie was away caring for the daughter who helped spark her car accident nightmare just before the time jump. It was nice to see Maggie face that loss and reintroduce herself to fans.

They couldn’t have picked a better way to bring her in, too. We were rolling our eyes as Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) went on to Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) about being here to see a beautiful woman.

Of course, the tone he took and the look in his eyes made us think he was going back on his word to Chloe. Chloe thought so, too, as she made it very clear she wasn’t amused. However, he was really talking about Maggie and finally let them both know that by mentioning her red hair.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: What we see

So, we think Maggie is going to have fun. We loved how they made a couple of remarks about Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) antics and how she needs to get him back in that cage. She even made some jokes about how Victor is lucky he’s cute and kind of questioning why she missed him so much. Wait until she learns about Victor’s food fight when Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) broke the news they’re getting married.

By the way, we still think that’s a brilliant scene because they just showed us the aftermath of a dazed and surprised Bonnie and Justin sitting in a mess of a room covered in food. There’s no way they could have included the actor and made it have the same impact. But, again, this shows that Maggie will have a lot of work ahead keeping Victor in line. We wish her luck. After being left to his own devices so long, it might be a slightly harder job. But we’re sure Maggie is up to it.

NBC ‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: What happened

As for the actress, she had health scare last year she was quick to point out wasn’t related to the current situation. She’d taken a med she termed a “horse pill” and it just didn’t go down as it was supposed to. This led her to call 911 and wake up two weeks later in the hospital with lots of work ahead of her. Because of an auto immune disease that kicked in, it made her recovery a little more complicated.

Because of the restrictions, as this was going on at the height of the pandemic, the actress spoke about being fearful of catching it herself, as well as fact she couldn’t have visitors. But she did have support. One of those was Ken Corday, the executive producer. Said Rogers, “He got the number to the hospital where I was and he would call to cheer me up and he sent beautiful flowers from the show. That got me through it, that’s all I can say.”

Eventually, Rogers recovered and was able to go back home. However, the incident led to her hair being lost. She described waking up with the curlers she’d been wearing when the incident happened being gone with a lot of her hair in them. Rogers revealed she’s currently wearing a wig until she’s comfortable with the regrowth of her famous locks.

By May, she was back on set. However, she revealed how accommodating the show was to her recovery and made sure she was comfortable with the workload. Rogers revealed how great it was to be back with her on screen husband when asked about what it was like to be reunited with Aniston.

Said Rogers, “I just love working with him and I think the writers have been really cognizant of the fact we like each other, and on the show, we’re husband and wife so we love each other.” Unfortunately, the actress revealed she hasn’t had enough scenes with him for her liking.

With the real life and on screen circumstances, Rogers teased there will be changes ahead. Said the actress, “When Maggie comes back, she has a different perspective, like ‘wow, life isn’t always a bed of roses.’” With her daughter dying from her alcoholism, inherited from Maggie, has humbled the character and left her soul hurting. We can’t wait to see how she plays this going forward, as well as her interactions with Victor.
