Jason Momoa plays fearless soldier Duncan in the new upcoming film ‘Dune’ and has said he was more ‘scared’ of the film than any other he had done before.
The 42-year-old actor said, “It wasn’t necessarily the role. It’s more my fear, nerves of failure in front of my peers and idols.” He explained that being in front of the camera wasn’t the issue, but being surrounded by actors on set that he really “looks up to.”
‘Dune’ is a film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel and the second movie inspired by the book, with the original releasing back in 1984. It follows the science-fiction world in which the Atreides family is given the task of protecting the most valuable element in the galaxy on a dangerous, desert planet.
‘Dune’ Actor Jason Momoa Reveals He Was ‘Scared’ By The Film More Than Any Other He’s Done
The newest incarnation is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who Momoa said is his “favorite director in the world.” Momoa is joined alongside other actors like Timothy Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, and Rebecca Ferguson.
While it may not be the fear you were thinking of, landing on set with people you look up to and not wanting to make mistakes in front of would-be terrifying. However, many viewers of the trailer and film have already said that Momoa steals the show in his role as Duncan Idaho. Many took to Twitter to express their pleasure for Momoa.
It appears that Momoa shouldn’t be afraid, as he’s put in incredible work for his favorite director and 2021’s version of ‘Dune’ may finally live up to the original content of the novel.
