Alyssa Milano, who is best known for being on the hit TV show Charmed, was arrested for protesting outside the White House.
Actress Alyssa Milano Was Arrested Outside The White House After Demanding Voting Reform!
The actress is known for her political activism, given her prior history. She has previously endorsed Bernie Sanders and Hilary Clinton during their election campaigns. But this time around, she took it a step further.
Alyssa came to demand that US President Joe Biden allow voting rights to be reformed. As part of the Freedom to Vote act, Alyssa and her supporters wanted the voting to be reformed, including regulations on campaign finance.
She was clearly passionate about the issue, as shown in the following picture. We can see Alyssa has a microphone in her hand, as her supporters are behind her demanding change.
Despite Alyssa’s enthusiasm, police officers started to lose patience over what they were doing. The authorities had warned them that if they did not stop and move, they would be arrested.
The reason for the arrest was because the crowd were obstructing the street and therefore creating problems. Soon after, the officers moved in.
In the video here, the footage shows the officers have arrived to disperse the crowd. Although the protestors were arrested, Alyssa was not going to stay silent. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Alyssa shared a picture of herself from the protest.
We can see that she is holding a placard saying, ‘Save our democracy, pass the Freedom to Vote Act.’ The actress has a huge smile on her face as she punches her fist in the air.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “I was just arrested for demanding the Biden Administration and the Senate to use their mandate to protect voting rights.
“Stand with me and @peoplefor and tell the Senate and White House that voting rights shouldn’t depend on where you live. #DontMuteOurVote.”
It will be fascinating to see where Alyssa goes from here. She has clearly drawn a lot of attention to this issue, but whether it leads to mass change is anyone’s guess. But at the very least, she should be commended for her bravery.
