That has got to sting. There’s a new report that says Brad Pitt’s petition for a review in his ongoing custody battle with Angelina Jolie has been denied.

That’s because the California Supreme Court shut down the actor’s request to review the California appellate court’s ruling to block Judge John Ouderkirk from overseeing their custody dispute. Here’s what you need to know.

Angelina Jolie Just Won A Small Battle In Her Ongoing Custody War With Brad Pitt

“Ms. Jolie is focused on her family and pleased that her children’s wellbeing will not be guided by unethical behavior,” Jolie’s attorney, Robert Olson, told ET Online. “She welcomes the California Supreme Court’s decision to refuse review of the unanimous Court of Appeal decision.”

The statement continued, “As reinforced by California’s appellate courts, our judiciary prioritizes ethics and children’s best interests, and won’t tolerate judicial misconduct to reward the interests of a party. Ms. Jolie is glad for the family to now move forward cooperatively.”

Back in September, Angelina Jolie admitted to “fearing for her children” during her marriage to Brad Pitt. She told the Guardian that while she can’t speak about about her own children’s situation, she certainly didn’t feel as though her family was in a safe place.

When asked about whether or not she feared for the safety of her children, she answered: “Yes, for my family. My whole family.” Angie also admitted that the divorce and custody battle, in which she alleged the actor was “verbally abusive and physical” with their adopted son Maddox while on their private plane, had been “horrific.”

“It doesn’t start with the violation [the plane incident]. It’s so much more complicated than that,” she said, adding the lack of ratification of the UNCRC had had a large impact on her battle with Pitt, saying, for example, Maddox had been “denied a voice in court.”

If that weren’t enough, Angelina also said she thought long and hard before pulling the plug on her marriage. “It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children,” she added.
