The news is understandable given the media attention that it has been getting and the subsequent impact that it is going to have on Alec’s mental health.
While he would be losing out on some major roles, it is important to bear in mind that Alec is working with the authorities in order to help them speed up their investigation.
In addition, he has chosen to be there for Halyna’s family, all of which is going to take precedence over his career. A source told People magazine the following: “[Alec wants] to take some time to himself and re-centre himself.
“This is how he handles difficult times. Whenever something bad happens, in the short term, he removes himself from [the] public eye.”
It is probably wise that Alec removes himself from the media due to some of the negativity that he has been getting. Take, for example, the response of political commentator Benny Johnson.
The former seemed to mock Alec in the most unsavoury of circumstances by implying that Alec was at fault. In a post on Twitter at the time, he remarked: “Alec Baldwin kills person with gun, criminal investigation underway.
“This is the accurate headline, FYI.” But with the support of his family, Alec will be able to pull himself together. After all, his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, is all too aware of what it is like to deal with the media.
She was recently called out over her Spanish heritage after allegations that she was not from where she claimed to be. That is not the same as what Alec is going through, but it did still have an impact on her mental health.
That is why family is important for Alec. The source added: “It’s going to take him time to figure all this out. He needs to take a while to himself, to be with his family.”
