When getting into a relationship with someone who lives in another country, it is important to know as much as you can about their culture. Not everyone follows the same religion or even the same marriage processes. Steven Johnston from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is going through a little bit of a culture shock himself. He is dating a woman named Alina, who lives in Russia.
They have made arrangements to be married in Turkey. They will live in Turkey together until they can get to Russia and start their new lives together. It seems that Steven didn’t do the research about living in Turkey though and viewers don’t seem to be shocked by yet another cast member thinking that everyone abides by the same rules.

It is pretty obvious that Turkey and the United States have completely different ways of doing things. According to Steven, he just thought that this wedding would be just like one in Las Vegas. He is completely wrong on all levels of thinking.

Steven has just been making mistake after mistake in their relationship. From asking her to see other women, while they were dating, to making big plans for Turkey, Steven doesn’t know too much about anything right now.
After asking Alina to convert to Mormonism, we have seen a lot coming from Steven that we never knew would be possible. On 90 Day Fiancé though, anything is possible. Steven is very nervous about the marriage process in Turkey.
As he was listening to the process, he broke out into a sweat and looks terrified. Steven told their immigration attorney, “I thought we would just go to a courthouse or something, kind of like in Vegas, and just kind of make it happen.”
Their attorney told them that this is not at all how things are done in Turkey. Fans of the show gave their input about his thoughts on marriage in Turkey. One wrote, “Imagine moving to a new country to get married without even reading about the process beforehand.” Another added, “It’s common sense that there’d be plenty of steps. He seems a bit clueless.”
Steven seems as if he is shocked at how many laws there are concerning marriage in Turkey. It doesn’t look as if he has even proposed to her yet and he is not ready to sleep in the same bed with her yet either. We did notice that he can’t keep his hands off of her though.
