Kaley Cuoco has asked the court to deny spousal support to her estranged husband Karl Cook on account of their prenuptial agreement, according to court papers. She also wants the denial to go both ways, as the agreement cites that the actress cannot cash in, either.
Another noteworthy comment on the filed documents was the date of separation. The 35 year old actress marked this with a ‘TBD.’
Kaley Cuoco had Ironclad Prenuptial Agreement-No Spousal Support for Her Estranged Husband
In a joint public announcement the once couple said of the reason for the divorce, “Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions.”
The exes signed what has been described as an “ironclad agreement” prior to tying the knot in 2018, when Cuoco was still starring in the top grossing sitcom, Big Bang Theory. She was making a reported $900,000 per episode toward the end of the series run.
Assets both parties had prior to the union and any earnings made throughout the duration of the marriage are said to all be “protected.”
The finer details of the pre-nup have not been made public, however, it is known that both Cuoco and Cook were ordered by the Superior Court of California in L.A. to hand over their financial information in regards to current earnings, assets and expenses.
The surprise split which was announced earlier this week is being described by insiders as without ‘anger or animosity’ and, if the prenup holds up in court as it is supposed to, will remain as such.
We can only imagine Kelly Clarkson (who pays her estranged husband almost $200K per month in spousal support) had gone in Cuoco’s direction.
It seems, though, that Cuoco wasn’t always this savvy. Following her divorce from tennis player Ryan Sweeting, the Flight Attendant actress was ordered to pay the athlete $165K along with shelling out just under $200K for Sweeting’s personal trainers and just over $50K for his lawyer’s fees.
