Britney Spears is no longer under the control of her father, Jamie Spears, as reports have confirmed that he is not her conservator.
Jamie Spears Is NO LONGER Britney Spears’ Conservator!
This is a huge step forward in the life of Britney, who had started to become more outspoken over the control she was being subjected to. This included prohibitions on her from marrying Sam Ashgari, in addition to starting a family with him.
But now, she no longer has to worry about that. The terms of her conservatorship will officially end on the last day of December this year.
In the meantime, another temporary conservator has been appointed to aid that transition which would allow the singer to have full control over her life and finances.
While the news is huge, Britney’s legal team tried to remove the conservatorship immediately. Her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, told the court: “Everything else would be moot if the court terminates the conservatorship today.”
And yet, there is still plenty more to come from this story. Mathew argued that it was strange that Jamie, who had resisted being removed as a conservator for so long, would now be happy to do so.
He alleged that this was because Jamie had been ordered to hand over financial statements covering this period. Naturally, by doing so, Jamie may reveal that he had been misusing funds from Britney’s estate.
And it explains why Jamie’s legal team said the following: “Even though he [Jamie] must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal.
“Mr Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator.”
If it is proven that there were some major irregularities, then Jamie could be facing a lawsuit himself, and who knows, even some jail time.
Britney’s following comments confirmed as much: “My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship and my management who played a key role in punishing me — they should be in jail.”
It is wonderful to see Britney finally being able to live a life of independence. She deserves it after what she has been through, and we wish her the best with things going forward.
