Amy Schumer has spoken about the surgery she had to go through in order to remove her uterus.
Amy Schumer Lets Her Fans Know She Is Fine After Having Her Uterus Removed
The comedian has been suffering from Endometriosis. This is a condition that can lead to soft tissue in the body and result in painful periods to the point where it is not possible to function as one would normally.
And given that Amy has a son, Gene, who is only two years old, she knew she had to get things addressed in order to be there for him. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Amy shared a picture of herself from the hospital as she got ready for the procedure.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “If you have really painful periods, you may have #endometriosis.” So how did the operation go down?
Well, rather well, given the amount of pain it was causing her. Although she admitted that she had some discomfort following the surgery, she has slowly begun to make a full recovery.
That can only be a good thing with her son and husband Chris Fischer waiting in the wings to welcome her home. In another social media post, she remarked: “The doctor found 30 spots of Endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the Endometriosis had attacked it…You know, sore, and I have some, like, gas pains. But, other than that, I already feel that my energy is [returning].”
Amy’s problems first started when she gave birth to Gene. Chris admitted that her difficult pregnancy had gone on to exacerbate some underlying problems.
This resulted in Amy undergoing a C-section in order to deliver her baby. What should have been a reasonably simple procedure turned out to be anything but that due to the Endometriosis.
Amy’s following comments confirmed as much: “It’s [C-section] supposed to take about an hour and a half. Mine took over three hours because of my Endometriosis.” Let us hope that Amy makes a full recovery, and her fans will be there to support her every step of the way to make sure that she is fine.
