‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ (B&B) Spoilers find that Steffy Forrester (Jacquelin MacInness Wood) just gave birth on today’s episode of B&B and it was… interesting, to say the least. Okay, so let’s give props to ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ for recognizing one thing – not every childbirth has to be traumatic.
Cool. However, I think they missed the memo that said “childbirth” and not “kiddie pool sex scene” because when I first turned on my TV, that’s what I thought was happening for a split second and then I realized, “Wait, this is Steffy, she’s pregnant–what are they doing?!”
‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ Spoilers: Steffy Forrester’s cringey birth scene
Now, I’m not really well-versed in child birth or the positions involved and I’ve done even less research on water births, but I didn’t know that the baby daddy got to be in the pool with Mama, so I’m not entirely sure that is accurate.
That being said, I have seen at home water births before and hubby is usually just outside the pool, so Finn’s decision to climb in there with Steffy was a bit… strange and extreme. Granted, he’s a doctor so if anything did go wrong, he would be right there.
However, legally, I’m not sure he could even do anything without violating some kind of HIPAA laws because treating your own family is considered a conflict of interest, but hey, it’s fiction. Sometimes it ain’t that deep bro, and I guess this is one of those times.
The music was also kind of strangely.. romantic? There were candles around? Why were their candles around? What sort of atmosphere were they actually trying to put forward here? The baby is not going to care about ambiance!
Also, the water birth seems to have taken care of the afterbirth, something that I don’t think is actually realistic for expectant Moms, but again, it’s a half hour long soap and I guess they didn’t have time to film the mdiwife toweling off the baby, or even have accurate footage of the baby crying.
Yup, Steffy’s new baby boy came into the world nameless and giving the world this thoroughly unamused look that plainly said, “What’s good?” Also, can we just talk about how big this baby was? This baby was literally 3 months old!
No wonder Steffy screamed while giving birth! Although we didn’t hear it, the entire scene had soft instrumentals in the background, which makes one wonder how much Jacqueline MacInnes Wood laughed while filming this scene if she did it in complete pantomine.
This was the most surreal soap birth I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of soap births. While it wasn’t traumatic, it wasn’t realistic either. But I think we’re safe from any woman thinking that that is actual reality – at least we hope not, dear God we hope not. Stay tuned!!!
