While there are a lot of people out there who think that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might name their baby daughter Diana after the late Princess Diana or even Lilly or Lillibeth after Queen Elizabeth, it looks like they might have it all wrong.
That’s because there’s a new report that suggests Harry and Meghan might choose a name that is much more common and a lot less royal – Amy. Here’s what you need to know.
According to Page Six, during a royal engagement with school children in the UK back in 2019, Harry and Meghan apparently opened up about some of their favorite baby names.
Meghan Markle Might Name Her Baby ‘Amy’
This was when Meghan was still pregnant with her son Archie and when they hadn’t revealed the sex of their child. Meghan told some of the kids that she liked the name Amy for her future daughter.
“I asked her whether she would call her baby Amy if she has a girl, and she said, ‘That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it,’” a student named Megan Dudley said, according to People.
If that weren’t enough, Harry also admitted that he loved the name Lily. While he was there, he asked a parent of a girl named Lily how to spell it.
If that weren’t enough, Harry and Meghan were also asked about possible baby names during their tour of Australia back in October of 2018.
“We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone, we’re going to sit down and have a look at them,” Meghan said at the time, while Harry said that Harriet sounded like a “great name” because of how similar it sounds to Prince Harry.
According to other reports though, the UK gambling site Landbrokes has seen the name Philippa grow as a popular predication for Harry and Meghan’s future bundle of joy. As a matter of fact, they have now slashed the betting odds on the name to 3/1, as many people believe that a Baby Philippa might be on the way.
“The support for baby Philippa is showing no signs of slowing down, and we’ve been forced to trim the odds again that it’s the name for Harry and Meghan’s daughter,” said Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes.
So far both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t dropped any clues about what they plan on naming their baby, nor have they said anything about Meghan’s due date, either. Of course, it’s without a doubt that royal fans from both sides of the pond can’t wait to find out what the baby will be named.
